The early Spring comedy “Hot Tub Time Machine” wasn’t the box office behemoth some expected.
It delivered a few time-warp chuckles and let us marvel at how little star John Cusack has aged since his ’80s heyday.
Now, the film is available on DVD and the extras gives people a new reason to check it out.
Unless a few Flock of Seagull hairstyles wasn’t enough to add the film to your Netflix queue.
The DVD provides nearly 12 minutes of deleted scenes include a cringe-worthy visit to ‘Sup Dawg’ doggie shop, a grossout sequence which gives chronic scene stealer Thomas Lennon a little room to breathe.
A brief scene shows the limits of R-rated language in comedy, while another sketching in the back story of John Cusack’s character was better left out.
Those itching to see much more of co-star Rob Corddry will be delighted – assuming you can’t squint your way through his thong-wearing scene.
We do get a rapid fire montage of Corddry, clearly ad-libbing,when his character is forced to get up close and personal to his best bud’s nether regions.
It’s not for the comedically squeamish, but it’s a perfect example of how deleted scenes can add to the fun – unless your name is Emmanuel Lewis (you have to see it to believe it).
Just don’t count on Robinson to repeat Corddry’s comic riffing. We get a similar montage of “The Office” star bemoaning his cheating wife, but it’s more coarse than comical.
UPDATE: Just received the Blu-ray version of “Hot Tub” on my doorstep. The Blu-ray edition feature more extras, including a short entitled “Chevy Chase: The Nicest Guy in Hollywood” and “Acting Like Idiots.”

”Summer” comedy? Didn’t that come out in late March?
Fixed now, BG … thanks for the tip. I think I meant to type “Spring” in that space, but it’s a goof all the same.
I was so disappointed with this movie. I was expecting to enjoy some great 80s jokes, fish out of water scenarios. All I really learned was that Cusack is becoming a bitter old man who hates the decade that allowed him to make bank. Good cast, (minus Cusack), and a few chuckles. Wasted, wasted opportunuity.
Concur. The Cusack – Pink pairing brought about the still-quotable entertainment of Grosse Point Blank, but this film was like a recent Harold Ramis production: a reminder that the best work now is behind us….
D.
You know it’s not that good when it goes hastily onto DVD after being in the cinema for such a short period of time.
Wasn’t the best film I’ve ever seen, I’d heard mixed reviews before seeing it. However the soundtrack was pretty good

I thought that this film had no real sparks of genius, but some reasonable laughs.
