In no particular order …
- Mel Gibson strikes again. This one will seriously derail – if not kill – his film career.
- “The Last Airbender” is doing well at the box office so far. Will sour word of mouth blunt those figures by Sunday, or will the new M. Night Shyamalan film be another “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” a pic the public loves but critics despise? Say it ain’t so. UPDATE: The people have spoken … and they’ve said, “feh.”
- Your new Spider-Man is Andrew Garfield. I liked the old Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire, who last we checked is only 35 and looks 25. This might be the most cynical reboot in recent memory, restarting a perfectly good franchise simply to go younger and cheaper. Let “Spider-Man” enjoy a few summers off and then we can consider rebooting the franchise.

The wince inducing Airbender trailer has been on every kiddy movie it seems for months. It also has commercial synergy due to being based on a fairly popular TV show. Ergo, I’m not surprised that there’s an upsurge in kids seeing it during the summer. Besides the sequel TS3, what else is there for young boys to see, Twilight?

Exactly! Which is why I will NOT be seeing it.
May it cause Sony many problems!
Cynical is an apt description of the Spider reboot. I guess Sony wasn’t content making only $350 million a movie domestic. Completely outrageous.
