Comment of the Week: Poor, poor Joaquin

Watcher Libby nailed a point so obvious it’s been forgotten in the run-up to the Joaquin Phoenix documentary “I’m Still Here.”

Should we really shed a tear for a millionaire actor’s tale of woe?

Methinks her answer is “no.”

Ugh! An actor whining about the nonsense surrounding the art of film making is on par with a super-model complaining about how boring modeling can be. Both may be true, but compared to just about any other hardship, be it professional or personal, it’s just petty and self-indulgent. Think of how many struggling actors would relish the position Joaquin has achieved and appreciate all of the opportunities he must have (or had before this episode). I won’t even watch this one when it’s on cable TV.

Very well put, Libby. Joaquin should watch a few episodes of Dirty Jobs and see what an honest day’s work really looks like in this country, then decide if he’s still too good for making millions of dollars by sitting around an air-conditioned movie set all day, being waited on hand and foot.
