Vomit as praise? Folks behind ‘The Human Centipede’ get creative
The 2010 shocker “The Human Centipede” isn’t your ordinary film. So promoting the movie’s Blu-ray release on Oct. 5 takes a little … creativity.
Consider the Blu-ray cover itself. Instead of slapping “Four Star Reviews by So and So” across the front and back, the folks at IFC went another route:
“I honestly got sick, and that’s the highest compliment I can give a horror film.” – Director Eli Roth
“It’s to my fellow depravity-heads that I recommend ‘The Human Centipede.’” Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly.
The packaging even includes a quote from Roger Ebert who refused to give a star rating to the unconventional horror film. WWTW filed a “Centipede” review earlier this year, but I’ll be re-watching the film and file a new review complete with comments on the Blu-ray extras.
