Stars love to say they do their own stunts.
But, as the latest season of “Entourage” taught us, most actors would rather stew in their trailer than risk life, limb and their film careers.
And then there’s Tom Cruise.
Watching him go through the death-defying motions on the Blu-ray extras for “Knight and Day” shows an actor eager to push himself.
“Knight and Day,” which hits home video shelves this week, didn’t wow audiences over the summer. The film still delivers first-rate action and a pair of beautiful stars flirting madly.
The Blu-ray extras show Cruise leaping, running and driving through hazardous terrain, all to sustain the illusion that his superspy character is the real deal. The film’s key behind-the-scenes talent, including director James Mangold, insist Cruise could make a living as a stunt man if he wanted.
And, if audience ill will toward the actor continues, it might not be a bad plan B.

Oh look, two actors I wouldn’t pay to see beaten up for real let alone in a movie.
