A ‘Despicable’ marketing ploy

Some marketing gimmicks aimed at film critics are impossible to resist.

Consider the push behind the Dec. 14 Blu-ray/DVD release of “Despicable Me,” the summer’s animated smash starring the voice of Steve Carell. The studio behind the movie kindly sent WWTW an official “Despicable Me” knit cap to spread the word about the film.

It doesn’t really go with my look – assuming I actually have a look something can go with – but Lil’ WWTW couldn’t be happier with it.

It even matches his sophisticated red ensemble …

Gru, the “hero”, drives a vehicle with the carbon footprint of a 747. That alone would put this in my “top 10″ list for the year. Glad to see that somebody has come up with an “Adams Family” franchise for the twenty first century.

Got to remember to pick up the DVD tomorrow. :)
