Thor Hemsworth Hopkins

We’re only a month away from Hammer Time.

The Summer movie season kicks off May 6 with “Thor,” the big-screen take on the Marvel superhero with the flowing blond locks and that supercharged hammer.

Here’s a quick scene from the upcoming film, directed by Kenneth Branaugh. Shakespeare, it ain’t. But if Thor makes a smooth transition from Asgard to Earth no one will mind a bit.

Honestly, I get how they’re trying to give us an intro to each of the Avengers before that movie, and all, but I don’t really see the point of this. Giant Nordic guy with hammer: I don’t think you need to have ever picked up a comic in your life to know who that is.

Admittedly, the mythical Thor actually has red hair, but lots of people don’t know that.

This movie has promise, I was initially turned off by the armor until they explained the way the Norse Realm was actually high tech. Now I am looking forward to seeing this.

Norse Realm was actually high tech

I think they can run with this idea in a lot of directions. Alien cowboy superheros who happen to come from super high tech Western culture planets with particle beam 6 shooters. Alien beauty pageant winners which come from planets with super high tech, uh, bio-enhancements. At least that would give an excuse for some of the common attributes of Marvel female super heros.

Lol I agree with K, it is actually the foundation of a lot of Super Hero and comic book legends.
