If the upcoming crop of superhero movies disappoints there’s always Plan B – just pop in a Blu-ray copy of “The Incredibles.”
Pixar’s 2004 triumph hits the High-Def format this week, a great way to revisit one of the best superhero films of the past decade. Who cares if it’s a cartoon made of ones and zeroes?
Here’s a peek at some of the many extras available on the just-released Blu-ray package. Perhaps the best bits involve a storyboard breakdown of excised scenes with the story behind their dismissals.
Pixar is one of the few studios to be trusted with making superior sequels, but here’s hoping “The Incredibles” is left to stand alone.

My wife picked it up (along with Cars and Dawn Treader) yesterday and I can’t wait to dig into it. It’s near the top of my list of Pixar favorites (it’s like picking which child is your favorite though) and I can’t wait to see it in hi-def glory.
I’m feeling awful Rand-y this weekend, watching this and going to see Atlas Shrugged. Not too bad a time to be had!
When it comes to a potential ‘Incredibles’ sequel, I’m a man divided. It IS great on it’s own, but I want to see more of everything the movie offered! I think we can trust Pixar to make the right call… but my fingers remain firmly crossed.
Maybe it’s the populist in me, , but personally I hate this movie; it’s just a paean to special snowflake-ness. That whole thing about how everybody’s special, therefore nobody is? Exactly. Nobody is special, the rules apply to everyone. You don’t like it, well, we got a guillotine that can help with that.
It just irks me, because right-wing support for this crap—and that evil harpy Rand, whose escape from Stalin and Hitler is a better argument against God than any her meager wits could formulate—is the main reason leftists get to tar right-wingers as fascist. Sure, their economic policies are cribbed right from Mussolini, but you’re the ones who talk like the Italian futurists who were one of his biggest influences. And in this shallow world, rhetoric counts for far too damn much.
Well, Tom in AZ, thanks for injecting YOUR politics where it doesn’t belong…in discussing The Incredibles. We get it..you hate Atlas Shrugged. You hate “right-wingers”. What does that have to do with THIS movie? Do us all a favor.. go the hell away and let the rest of us enjoy The Incredibles on Blu-Ray.
