New ‘Pooh’ feels like old times

The trailer for the new kiddie film “Winnie the Pooh” surely isn’t aimed at a relative old timer like WWTW, right?

So why did it give me goosebumps and bring back so many childhood memories?

The film, set for release July 15, is so old school it’s in two dimensions and hand drawn. Holy Prehistoric entertainment, Batman!

Nonetheless, the trailer kills, and I suspect I won’t be the only one who feels that way. Maybe it’s that Keane song playing in the background. Listen to the lyrics. You may not find a better match between words and content in any trailer. Chills, I tell you.

Whether kids today feel the same pull for Pooh and his shenanigans as this film scribe remains to be seen.

Nice preview. I suspect this will be a smash hit for Disney. Nowadays everything animated is in Pixar fashion and the required 3-D. With movie prices for 3-D so much higher, why wouldn’t parents steer their wards to see this? Also, hand drawn? THAT has got to be “cutting edge different” for the kids today.

The trailer looks aimed to draw in the parents as well as the kids. It looks wonderful, it’s good to see that they did their best to replicate the original voices.

Opus – YES! Sorry for the all caps. I’m pretty sure some of the original voice artists have since passed on – but the voice actors here mimic them perfectly!
