Will you see the new Sarah Palin documentary ‘The Undefeated?’

Undefeated Sarah Palin movie poster

I could type the words “Sarah Palin” and leave the rest of this post blank and inspire a gaggle of comments both good and very, very bad.

So, she’s prime fodder for a documentary, right?

The Undefeated,” by all accounts a glowing portrait of Palin’s political career, will be hitting theaters next month. I’m seeing the film tonight for a piece to run at The Daily Caller. But what intrigues me is the potential market for such a film, or if there is one in the first place.

Documentaries generally fare poorly at the box office. For every “March of the Penguins” there are hundreds of well crafted documentaries which can’t even score a theatrical release. I’ve seen plenty that deserved far more attention than they received.

So right away “The Undefeated” deserves underdog status.

Next, you add in the Palin factor. Even reasonable friends of mine dissolve into near rage at the very mention of her name. Let’s safely cross them off the list. And those who love all things Palin already can watch her on Fox News or read her political musings via her popular Facebook page. Are there many stories left to tell about one of the most x-rayed politicians in recent memory?

But should anyone count Palin out?

“The Undefeated” is drawing scores of press, essentially free publicity for the film. And news that a more critical documentary, from British filmmaker Nick Broomfield, is on the way might also spark extra interest in any Palin documentary.

The film’s ace in the hole may be the Mama Grizzly’s effect on her fan base. Audiences may line up to see “The Undefeated” simply to show their support for Palin and give the mainstream press a poke in its collective eye. That demographic is the film’s best hope of defying standard predictions.

Are fans of this web site eager to see “The Undefeated?” If so, why?

I may be alone here, but I will definately see this film (probably from Netflix…which banner advertises here).

I want to see it, just to see the timeline that the vicous assaults on her and her family began. Supposedly, the late-night comics and Madonna go NUTZ on her almost immediately before ANYTHING is known of her except she was a threat to their “godling”. How is that “godling” thing going for you guys anyway? I know I think it doing serious social and economic damage, but that is just me…a libertarian.

I would like to see this for the example of the insanity/brain-washing of the “collective” (progressives/Borg). Why the hatred? Why attack her family? Have they no shame or is this merely a case of progressive insanity?

I worked one of the screenings last night and was amazed at the number of people who were headed into different movies stopping and asking if they could sneak peek The Undefeated. This was shocking since most did not look like your typical right-wing Palin supporter. Unfortunately, our screening was packed so there was not any room left but it showed me that there is great curiosity.

The people at our screening were by invitation only and there was a very large demographic and political spectrum. While it was a rough cut of the movie and not the final product that will be released on July 15th, everyone walked away impressed and with new information.

The people that don’t like her due to ideology or agenda will still not like her but the people who are in the middle will walk away with a new more positive view of her.

I will look for your review. It will certainly reveal more about you than probably the movie itself.

Personally I want to do a compare and contrast on this film and the Nick Broomfield documentary, which seems to be more of a hit piece. Sort of a two-sided coin thing.

I would see it if it was showing in a theater in my area but there is not a single showing in Louisville. KY.

So how was the movie? You said you were going that night and I have kept an eye out for your review but you haven’t seemed to have written one.

What happened to your review? Did you like the movie?

I’ll be writing a review for The Daily Caller. I can’t reveal my feelings for the film until the story hits the web/the embargo date passes.

Reviewers are typically allowed to see movies ahead of time in exchange for honoring embargo rules. Some don’t honor these rules, but I do my best to obey.

Well that is very nice of you! I did not know their was an embargo put in place. We did not have one at our screening.

I really look forward to reading your review.
