Can movie nudity be trusted?

Who knew the infamous pool scene in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” might soon be a relic of the past?

Movie nudity is a rite of passage for young male viewers, but technology may soon erase that hormonal touchstone. Or make it as surreal as the airbrushed images we see in glamour magazines.

Director David Dobkin of “The Change-Up” recently told boxofficemagazine.com that the nude scenes involving co-star Leslie Mann might have been digitally touched up.

Is nothing sacred?

BOX OFFICE MAGAZINE: Was the nudity in the film actually CGI?

DOBKIN: There were things that were finessed … or you clean up things on people these days, you know what I mean? … [Mann] wanted to do it. Honestly, I would never have asked her to do it, mostly because I’ve been friends with [Mann's husband, Judd Apatow] for a long time … and she called me up and was like, “I think while I’m breastfeeding, it should be real-like my [breasts] are hanging out.” And I was like, “Uh, okay.” I thought that does make it more poignant—it makes it more real. We’re not going to be gratuitous about it, but it’s there. And when he’s having his moment of believing she’s this fantasy girl, we present it like it’s a lad mag or an old ‘80s music video, like a Whitesnake video or something, and it’s just funny.

Funny? Perhaps. A sign of things to come? Youbetcha. What starlet wouldn’t want a digital nip or tuck before disrobing on screen? Some actresses might even stipulate it in their contracts.

The wonders of CGI know no bounds. Call me old fashioned, but I’d rather the next generation of young men see the real deal on the big screen, and not some digital fantasy that will make women even more self-concious.

I’ll bet this happens more often than you’d think. Ever see that Youtube video of the beautiful model whose face went through so many touch-ups? It makes you wonder what the future holds, and I gotta say I almost think there should be a disclaimer saying the picture was altered for a desired effect, much in the same way it’s put on before television shows rated TV14 and the like.

But you also gotta ask, should we care if the women themselves allow themselves to be viewed as such. I could go on with the whole “what kinda of message does it send” rant but remember, they allow it to happen to themselves so you really can’t place all the blame on any one party.

But if we can’t trust Hollywood, who can we trust? /sarcasm

Leave Skinemax alone!

I saw the scene in “The Change-Up” and thought, I know Leslie Mann is beautiful, but her upper torso is, well, uh, perfect. Little did I know …

Maybe the dude who wrestled Borat had faux boobs, too!

Hey, they’ve been using body doubles for years. Given the clarity of HD (you can see every little blemish and frown line), it’s probably something that stars will be requesting.

I think we have now seen the real way the evil supercomputers will overthrow humanity.

What about Mark Wahlberg in 1997’s terrific “Boogie Nights”? Remember the end scene…him looking at his naked self in the mirror trying to “get ready” for a “scene”. That was all fake and he was greatly “enhanced”. Markie Mark did claim after the film he was approached by more women than ever before but it was probably just a fluke….
