Denver isn’t Hollywood, not by a longshot. The air is thinner here, the people are less likely to give you the stink eye and pals don’t do lunch – they hike until their jeans no longer fit.

But once a year Denver does a pretty fair imitation of La La Land courtesy of the Starz Denver Film Festival.

The annual event begins this week – Nov. 12, to be exact – and promises a peek at some of the more anticipated films of the Oscar season.

Consider the lineup, which includes “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire,” “The Last Station” and “Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans.”

The 10-day event will also play tribute to a trio of actors who rarely get the applause they deserve.

Among those being honored are Hal Holbrook, Ed Harris and J.K. Simmons.

WWTW will be there throughout the festival, reporting on the latest news and serving up reviews of some of the films being screened.

And that means a review of “Best Worst Movie,”  a documentary on the making of “Troll 2.”

Bring it on, little guy.
